USA | Made-in-France act Labess performs an exclusive NPR Music’s Tiny Desk meets globalFEST show

Labess is a band from Algeria and Canada, represented by French booking and production company Tartine Production. The band has been selected as part of 2021 globalFEST digital edition, streamed from January 11 to 14.

Formed in 2004 in Montreal, Canada by Nedjim Bouizzoul, Labess makes “gipsy chaabi” – a fusion between rumba, flamenco and traditional Algerian music.

World music festival globalFEST is a popular event of the New York City music scene. Organized every year in January, it showcases the most promising emerging world acts.
In 2021, due to the pandemic, the festival goes online and partners with NPR Music for exclusive live session entitled NPR Music’s Tiny Desk meets globalFEST – showcasing 16 acts:

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk meets globalFEST will be streamed at 8PM EST on NPR Music YouTube Channel and will be hosted by Angélique Kidjo until January 14.
Labess will perform on Monday 11 January.
