USA | Angélique Kidjo won a GRAMMY Award in the category “Best World Music Album”
Angélique Kidjo won the fourth GRAMMY Award of her career in the category Best World Music Album for her album Célia prduced by Decca Records France, affiliate to Universal Music France.
The Beninese artist celebrated the new generation of African artists during her acceptance speech. She particularly dedicated her award to Nigerian artist Burna Boy, also nomminated in the category Best World Music Album:
“This is for Burna Boy. Burna Boy is among these young artists that come from Africa that are changing the way our continent is perceived and the way African music has been the bedrock for every music.”
She also dedicated her award to the Cuban Singer, “Queen of salsa”, Célia Cruz, to whom the album Célia pays tribute.
