France | Trans Musicales celebrates 40 years of existence with a stellar line-up (Rennes – 4/8 December 019)

France’s premier see-them-here-first festival and one of Europe’s most respected events to uncover new and incredibly diverse music from around the globe, Trans Musicales started in 1979 as a modest gathering for local youth, with an emphasis on the local music scene. Held each December in the city of Rennes, Brittany, this end-of-year festival has gradually taken on a more international dimension. In 2019, the festival line-up is made of nearly one hundred acts from forty-nine different countries.

As an ideal place to discover gems year after year, Trans Musicales attracts nearly sixty-thousand people, including sixteen-hundred delegates and three-hundred and fifty journalists from all over the world.
2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the festival – 40 years of exploring the trends that will define tomorrow’s musical landscape, without any genre limitation.
For its 41st edition Trans Musicales invites 86 acts hailing from 49 different countries to perform in one of the 25 venues scattered in the city of Rennes, Brittany. The line-up also gives space for made-in-France acts to be revealed to international audiences: Acid Arab, Guiss Guiss Bou Bess, Catnapp, Sun…

For more than 20 years, Le Bureau Export has been a partner of the French festival and invites each year an international delegation to discover the best of the current made-in-France scene. Whether the act is French or simply produced in France – there is a wide musical diversity to be shared.
Again this year, Le Bureau Export in association with Britain’s association for live entertainment, Glaz Music, will organise networking times between French professionals and international ones. A speed meetings session will take place in Paris ahead of Trans Musicales. A pitch session will be organised during the festival, in Rennes: some of Le Bureau Export’s members will introduce acts performing at Bars en Trans and Trans Musicales to the international delegation.
