Lebanon | The Beirut International Awards for International Artist of the Year goes to Soolking
Algerian rapper, signed to French label Affranchis Music, Soolking has been awarded “International Artist of the Year” at the Beirut International Awards Festivals. The 10th edition of the Awards Festivals took place on July 12, in Lebanon.
In France, Soolking started being identified in 2018, when he performed the track “Guérilla” on French Hip Hop radio Skyrock – the first music radio amongst the under-50 French listeners. He was then a guest of Sofiane – fellow rapper and founder of record label Affranchis Music – who was taking part to the radioshow “Planète Rap”. Later on, Soolking signed to Affranchis Music, on which he released his debut album Fruit du démon, distributed by Capitol Music France / Universal Music France.
On an international level, Soolking made his debut in the German charts with the track “Dalida” – named after the iconic singer born in Egypt and samples her hit “Paroles… Paroles…”. Later in 2019, Soolking has been invited by Diplo to featured on a track of the US producer’s EP Europa, also showcasing other European’s emerging talents such as Franco-British rapper Octavian, fellow French rapper Niska, German rapper Bausa and British RnB singer IAMDDB.
Last June, he added a new international collaboration to the list with the release of single “Zemër” featuring Kosovo Albanian Dhurata Dora. The videoclip reach more than 123 million view on YouTube and got more than 20 million audio streams. It entered the Shazam Top 200 – World charts at #55.
Beirut International Awards Festival
The Beirut International Awards Festivals (BIAF) are yearly events, created in 2010. It aims to distinguish personalities from various fields (Art, Politics, Culture, Music, Finance and Humanitarian services). The committee chooses figures that have had a special and unique mark in communities and fields all over the world.
The year, BIAF committee have decided to award Soolking as “International singer of the year”.
