World | Zaz’s international success is a hot topic for French media

French singer Zaz is currently touring the world to support the release of her 4th album Effet Miroir (Play On/Warner Music France), released on November 2018. Her world tour includes a total of 80 dates – among which 60 are set abroad. Her international success has caught up the attention of French national radio RTL and daily newspaper Le Parisien. It is also an example of the developping support brought up by Le Bureau Export to its members. 

Effet Miroir has been sold to 320 000 exemplaires – half of the sellings are coming from foreign countries. As for streaming, 83% of the streams are accounted outside France.

Both French media have followed Zaz in Madrid, where she made her live debut at Wizink Center, a venue hosting up to 15 000 persons. The rest of her tour will stop by the USA, Canada, Japan, Europe and later on South America.

An international success drawing the attention of the French media

To understand the international enthusiasm for Zaz, RTL dedicated a news topic in its morning edition Laissez-vous tenter, which gathers 1.5 millions listeners in average. The topic was broadcasted on April, 3 at 9.10 A.M. and is now available in replay (content is only available in French). It also evokes the upcoming prospects. On the same day, first regional newspaper Le Parisien also published an article on its website (content is only available in French), covering the same topic. Both topics rely on street-interviews of Spanish fans, Zaz’s testimony, as well as reactions from her professional team.

Aside from the artist’s talent, the media stresses that her international success is the result of her professional team’s hard work – her manager Olivier Malinaud and her booker Caramba. Both have been aware of this international enthusiasm, notably the interest in Spanish-speaking countries. They are now developping their export strategy on Spain, the United States and Latin America.

Le Bureau Export helped Caramba in their export strategy for Zaz: 50.000€ have been allocated to support her development abroad and Caramba benefitted from a customized consultancy and connections. For instance, Le Bureau Export has introduced Caramba to a Spanish promoter, enabeling the concert at Wizink Center. Le Bureau Export New York initated Zaz’s debut tour in North America, starting with her upcoming concert at New York City Town Hall, hosting up to 1.500 persons.
