World | Back from Canada, Chili and India up next for Gauthier Toux Trio
Gauthier Toux Trio’s fall tour started back in August in Canada and will end up on the 8th of December in India after a few stops in Chili.
Born in 1993, the young French pianist from Chartres already won numerous prizes such as Jazz à la Défense, Jazz or Jazz and International Jazz Soloist award (Monaco). He is a finalist of the prestigious Notthingham Piano Solo competition and ZKB jazz Preis.
Blending simple melodies, pop inspirations, hip-hop or organic rhythms, Gauthier Toux Trio is an incarnation of the musical and cultural diversity of nowadays jazz music. Real up-and-comer on the French, Swiss and European jazz scene, the trio performed more than 100 shows since its creation in Lausanne (Switzerland) in October 2013. On the 4th of May 2018, the trio released its 3rd album The colours you see (Naim Music).
With this new project, Gauthier Toux shares a deeply personal vision of colors. Since he discovered he was colorblind at the age of 4, he has always been in search of other ways to perceive them. Title after title, he turns anecdotes related to hues and lights into music, memories in which colors had more than one interpretation, like the strange mix of dawn and dusk or the many shades one could attach to a feeling.
Meet Gauthier Toux (piano), Kenneth Dahl Knudsen (double bass) et Maxence Sibille (drums) on stage at one of the remaining dates of their fall tour.
